30 March, 2008 : - - Dave Weare (Durban) was the standout surfer on the final day of the O’Neill Scottburgh Pro presented by Surfers Paradise, and out-surfed Antonio Bortoletto (Durban) on his way to clinching the men’s open division final for 2008. Tasha Mentasti (Durban) had her unbeaten run from the previous day ended by Chantelle Rautenbach (Melkbos), who blasted her way through the semi’s and final on her way to claiming the women’s open division title.
30 March, 2008 : - - Merewether — Australian surfing’s in-form stars Owen Wright and Laura Enever have both racked up back-to-back wins on the Australasian junior tour by taking out their respective divisions in the Motorola Pro Junior at Merewether in Newcastle.
29 March, 2008 : - - The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America continued its World Qualifying Series (WQS) 2-star event with the Van’s Pier Classic accompanied by the grade-two Ezekiel Pro Junior, both presented by Jack’s Surfboards, in two-to-four foot (1 metre) bumpy conditions at Huntington Beach Pier.
29 March, 2008 : - - The opening day of the O’Neill Scottburgh Pro, presented by Surfers Paradise, took place in near perfect 3-4 foot offshore conditions at Scottburgh’s main beach on Saturday 29 March.
29 March, 2008 : - - Merewether’s Jesse Adam remains the only local surfer in contention to take out the Motorola Pro Junior at Surfest at Newcastle’s Merewether beach. But Adam may have had fortune on his side as he only caught three waves in the afternoon heat that saw him edged out of the top spot by Stuart Kennedy (Lennox Head, NSW) by less than a point in small and inconsistent conditions.
29 March, 2008 : - - Huntington Beach, Ca – The third annual Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack’s Surfboards saw great conditions today with clean two-to-four foot (1 metre) peaks gracing the event site at Huntington Beach Pier.
29 March, 2008 : - - Last year’s local team and runner up in the first edition of the annual ISA World Masters Surfing Championship, Puerto Rico is now in Peru looking to repeat or improve their great results. From March 31 until April 5 they will compete against 17 other National teams in the perfect waves of Punta Rocas.
29 March, 2008 : - - Raglans Luke Cederman looked unstoppable in his first heat of the Corona Super 16 held at South Piha today. Cederman had earlier won through the trials of the event after not directly qualifying into the main event. Cederman was one of a number of standouts which included Luke Cederman’s club the Point Boardriders of Raglan who dominated the inaugural Interclub Challenge semifinals.
